DESIGNING FOR THE NEURODIVERGENT

RESIDENTIAL SENSORY FRIENDLY ROOMS

Our Personalized Approach

Every individual is unique, and we believe that their living or working space should reflect their specific sensitivities and preferences. Our process begins with a comprehensive assessment, where we collaborate closely with the individual, their caregivers, and any necessary professionals to gain a deep understanding of their needs.

Through open communication and careful observation, we identify sensory triggers, preferred color schemes, textures, and any other factors that contribute to creating a nurturing environment. Our goal is to design a space that promotes self-regulation, comfort, and overall well-being.

Sensory-Friendly Design Elements

Our sensory-friendly designs incorporate various elements tailored to the individual's preferences and needs. Some key features may include:

  • Soft, diffused lighting and natural color palettes to create a calming atmosphere
  • Sound-absorbing materials and strategic acoustic design to minimize distracting noises
  • Organized and clutter-free spaces to reduce visual overstimulation
  • Incorporation of sensory tools, such as weighted blankets, fidget toys, or sensory swings
  • Designated quiet areas for retreat and relaxation
  • Clear visual supports, like schedules and task boards, to aid communication and routine planning

Collaboration and Customization

We believe that collaboration is key to creating truly personalized and effective spaces. Throughout the design process, we actively involve the individual, their caregivers, and any other relevant professionals to ensure that every aspect of the design aligns with their unique needs and preferences.

We understand that needs may evolve over time, and we are committed to ongoing support and adjustments to maintain the optimal environment for our clients.

COMMERCIAL OFFICE WELLNESS ROOMS

Office Wellness Room for Neurodiversity

Unlock your team's full potential with our thoughtfully designed wellness room, tailored to create a calming and supportive environment for a neurodiversity office. We understand the unique sensory needs of those on the autism spectrum or with other neurological differences, and our wellness room is crafted to promote focus, relaxation, and self-regulation.

Design Philosophy

Our design process begins with thorough research and consultation with experts in neurodiversity and occupational therapy focusing on commercial offices spaces. We involve the individuals themselves to deeply understand their preferences, sensitivities, and challenges. This collaborative approach ensures that every aspect of the wellness room is optimized for their comfort and well-being.

Sensory-Friendly Environment

Step into our wellness room, and you'll be enveloped in a serene atmosphere carefully curated for sensory-friendly relaxation. Soft, diffused lighting and natural materials create a calming ambiance, while gentle colors and textures promote a sense of tranquility. We've minimized harsh lighting, loud noises, and strong odors that can trigger sensitivities.

Safety and Comfort

Safety is our top priority. We've eliminated potential hazards and sharp edges, choosing furniture with rounded corners and ensuring stability. Non-toxic materials and an odor-free environment provide an added layer of comfort and security.

Quiet Retreat

The wellness room services as a dedicated quiet space that offers a sanctuary for solitude and self-regulation. This area is designed to be free from distractions, with comfortable seating and minimal sensory stimulation, allowing individuals to retreat and recharge when needed.

Sensory Tools

To further support self-regulation, we've incorporated a selection of sensory tools, such as weighted blankets, fidget toys and noise-cancelling headphones. These tools are provided for each individual's preferences, providing them with the resources they need to find calm and focus.

Organization and Visual Supports

Our wellness room is carefully organized and decluttered, minimizing visual distractions and promoting a sense of calm.

Acoustic Design

Sound control is a critical aspect of our design. We've implemented sound-absorbing materials, such as carpets, curtains, and acoustic panels, to minimize background noise. White noise machines are available to mask sudden or intrusive sounds, creating a peaceful auditory environment.

Continuous Improvement

Our commitment to excellence doesn't end with the initial design. We continuously assess the effectiveness of the wellness room, gathering feedback from individuals. We make adjustments as needed to ensure that the space remains optimized for the ever-evolving needs of neurodivergent employees.

Invest in the well-being of your team by creating an office wellness room designed specifically for neurodivergent individuals, which in turn can be used by all. Contact us today to learn more about our customizable solutions and how we can help unlock the full potential of your workforce.
